He arrived with roughly $10,000, a valid permit and an existing consulting business. Today, John and his Kenyan wife, Mckina, have developed businesses spanning relocation services, real estate, home construction, travel and long-term investment planning. Together, they have helped clients navigate the realities of moving to Kenya and have built more than 60 homes across the country.
In this documentary, John explains why he chose Kenya, how he transformed his relocation experience into a business and the costly lessons he learned about permits, property ownership, contractors and investing abroad. The couple also shares how they met, built a family and created a life together on Kenya’s coast.

For centuries, the origins of the Somali people have been discussed through language, migration, history, and ancient trade routes. But DNA research is revealing a much more complicated story. Genome-wide studies of Somali populations show a strong East African genetic foundation alongside substantial West Eurasian ancestry, reflecting ancient population movements and admixture in the Horn of Africa.
In this video, we explore what scientists have discovered about Somali DNA, Cushitic ancestry, ancient migration, and the genetic connections linking populations across the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea.
