American Moved to Kenya With $10,000—Now He’s Built Over 60 Homes
After travelling through approximately 34 African countries, American entrepreneur John found something different in Kenya: a place where he could build a permanent future.
He arrived with roughly $10,000, a valid permit and an existing consulting business. Today, John and his Kenyan wife, Mckina, have developed businesses spanning relocation services, real estate, home construction, travel and long-term investment planning. Together, they have helped clients navigate the realities of moving to Kenya and have built more than 60 homes across the country.
In this documentary, John explains why he chose Kenya, how he transformed his relocation experience into a business and the costly lessons he learned about permits, property ownership, contractors and investing abroad. The couple also shares how they met, built a family and created a life together on Kenya’s coast.
This story does not suggest that relocating to Kenya is easy or suitable for everyone. It offers an honest look at the opportunities, responsibilities and risks involved in building a new life and business in another country.

Why don't we eat breadfruit? One tree can grow around two hundred fruits a year, for half a century, with no ploughing and no sowing. Roasted, it looks and eats like fresh bread. It grows across the whole tropical belt, where most of the world's hungry people live. So why have you probably never tasted one?
The answer runs through a three-thousand-year voyage across the Pacific, the most famous mutiny in history, a second voyage that landed 690 trees in the Caribbean, and the people they were meant to feed, who did not want them. At the end we put breadfruit through the five tests every world food has to pass, and find the one thing wheat has and breadfruit never will.

Before YouTube, I spent four years living in Nigeria and flying a Gulfstream III all over Africa for a wealthy businessman.
