I've spent years photographing tiny subjects, but I've rarely pushed beyond 1:1 magnification. So I decided to see what happens when I go a little further.

With a couple of extreme macro lenses from Laowa, including the new Aksen 5:1–10:1, some Adaptalux flexible LED lights, and a lot of patience, I headed into the forest to explore a world that's almost impossible to see with the naked eye.

Things didn't always go as planned. At these magnifications, even the smallest movement can ruin a photograph, and getting everything sharp turned out to be quite a challenge.

But that's part of what makes photography so rewarding. Sometimes it's less about the final image and more about everything you experience along the way.

👇 If you have experience with extreme macro photography and noticed something I could've done better, let me know in the comments! I could use a few tips! 😅
