Since independence in 1962, Uganda has experienced coups, civil war, constitutional crises, assassinations, and decades of authoritarian rule. What began with hope quickly descended into power struggles that reshaped the nation forever.

From the fall of Apollo Milton Obote to the terror of Idi Amin, the Bush War led by Yoweri Museveni, and the controversial constitutional amendments that removed presidential limits, this documentary explores how Uganda’s democratic institutions were repeatedly dismantled.

Over one million people are estimated to have died in political violence, purges, and war. Entire regions like the Luwero Triangle were devastated. Kings were exiled. Archbishops were murdered. Constitutions were suspended.

This is the full political history of Uganda.
